Autumn Family Portrait Special Offer

€50 Session Fee + 10% Discount on Prints and Storyboards

It’s a perfect time to get out and have a Family Photo Session: autumn is here and the woods look fantastic; it’s bright and still warm outside.

This October we’re offering special discounted rates on all session booked from now until the end of the mid-term break.

For €50 you get a full Family Session anywhere in the Cork.  We’re also offering a 10% Discount on the Gallery Price list for print orders placed at your viewing after your session.

There are many spots around Cork for great Outdoor Family Photo Sessions.  We’ve worked in Currabinny, Rostellan, Fota Gardens and even more suburban locations like Fitzgerald’s Park and the Japanese Gardens.  All we need is somewhere you can be free to relax and play and we can capture your family at their best.

You might also consider some of our great local beaches at this time of year: Myrtleville, Rocky Bay, Garretstown or the Dock Beach have all worked well for us in the past.

But if you have your own favourite spot that your family know well then why not get photos taken there.

Weekend sessions are available but with limited availability.  The promotion runs through to the end of the October Mid-term break so you can also schedule a session while the kids are off school (3rd November).

Contact us now for more info or to book your session: 021 429 3714 rob@roblambphoto.com

Terms and Conditions Apply:

  • You have to be prepared to go out there and have fun
  • The Session Rate of €50 applies to family sessions booked between 4th October 2013 and 3rd November 2013
  • The 10% Discount applies to the normal Gallery Price List and is only applied to products ordered at your viewing session (subsequent orders will be priced at our normal rates)
  • In the unlikely event that the weather isn’t great the day of your session then we’ll re-schedule (I don’t mind getting a bit wet but there are some days when it’s just not going to happen).  The offer will still apply to rescheduled sessions even if they have to get taken after 3rd November.
  • All work is covered by our normal terms and conditions of business

News on Gallery Sessions

As I mentioned in a previous post, the Gallery Sessions last year were a big hit: a convienient way to get a great range of pictures of a whole family at a reasonable cost (and with no initial outlay).

But me, being me, couldn’t help messing with the format a bit.

It’s no news that I’m not a fan of flat backgrounds.  I started a blog post about that very subject and it turned into a small essay – so we’ll have to work out where to go with that one at some stage.

But these are studio sessions and we need a background.  So we chose something less ‘photographery’ and flat with more texture and deliberately set it up so it wasn’t smooth.  The to help I tilted it to give some depth.

But at times the purple backdrop came up very dark and a bit flat last year – even when I started lighting it independently.  So we looked at other options: more depth, more options for posing full length, better lit and more space for larger groups.

My motto would always to ‘use what you have’ first and by turning everything around and incorporating the Gallery partion we hit on something new and way more interesting.  Moreover shooting into the angle adds more depth.

It’s deeper, brighter and gives options for leaning against the partion.  You get good separation with darker clothes and taller people in the group and we have extra seats, stools and other props this year to make more interesting group setups.

Just to finally add those links to the Communion information:

Transitions: Your Child’s Confirmation

Vouchers are also available for confirmation gifts

Your child’s Confirmation day certainly isn’t as big a day as their First Communion but it is not less important as a milestone in their lives.

In fact in many respects it is more significant because it coincides with a major transition in their lives: the move to senior school.

Now my kids aren’t there yet – this is all ahead of them – but I’m assured that things change considerably once they move on from National School.  It’s not just that they are teenagers, their peer group is now exclusively other teenagers.  It’s a time of change and many challenges.

What I have seen is that kids in 6th class still behave like kids in front of the camera.  They don’t yet wear that protective shell of self-conciousness that many teenagers grow.  They are open, relaxed, comfortable in themselves and photographs taken for their confirmation have a unique blend of confidence and innocence.

So although your child’s confirmation is probably going to be a low-key event compared to their communion, that doesn’t mean that it should go unmarked.  You may not be planning a large family get-together, a bouncy castle and a big party, but think about getting photographs taken professionally.

There are a number of things you might consider:

  • Sessions are available at the Gallery on the day of the Confirmation.  There’s no charge for the session, it takes about 10 minutes and you’ll get a range of studio images with the rest of the family
  • If you’re going on to a Hotel or Restaurant after Mass then I can meet you there.
  • I can come to your home either before you leave or if you’re celebrating at home afterwards.
  • We can arrange a session on another date if that suits better.  This allows a more flexible and relaxed session with a wider range of images possible.

Generally there is more availability for confirmations because they are weekdays and schools don’t coincide but some dates are very busy for sessions.  So contact us now to discuss your child’s confirmation and let us capture it in a unique way.

Progress

I’m way behind on the blog posts.  The Gallery is in really good shape now and nearly – very nearly – ready for ‘officially open’.

I’ve been working here full-time for the past week or so and it’s really nice to have somewhere dedicated to my work.

So watch this space – there’s a Very Special Offer going with the opening (anyone who has passed by has already had a sneak preview).

Big News

I am pleased to announce that today I signed the lease on a new home for Rob Lamb Photography at Unit 2, Eglantine Park.

There’s been a lot of work getting this far and there’s lots more to do to get it up and running as a functional office.

It’s a big step for me but the business has out-grown the home office and I need somewhere handy to meet people and to show more Artwork – and this is it!

It doesn’t look much at the moment (the skip has now been taken away) but from here it’s full steam ahead to fit it out and get it ready to go.

Until I get a desk and broadband sorted I’ll be in and out of the place but if you’re passing and the door is open please come in and say ‘Hi’.

Looking for a Unique Family Portrait?

In time for the start of the summer holidays, I am pleased to announce the start of my Portfolio Programme.

The Programme is aimed at producing a range of unique family photographs based around a theme which is special to each family.

I want to talk to families with a shared passion for something – something which is personal to them and is a major feature in their lives on a regular basis.

Together we’ll use that as a theme for a family photo session featuring all the family and elements of whatever it is they do.  We’ll choose the location and the timing of the session to suit the theme.

Whether you’re mad into surfing, GAA, music or whatever, I want to hear your ideas for a family photograph with a difference.

As with previous promotions, I want to use these images for my own publicity on the web and in print. In return for your time, the session is free and you’ll get a framed print as well.

So before you head off to do whatever you do best this summer, think about whether you’d like some great pictures to remember it by.

Give me a call at 087 683 8511 or email me your ideas and we can come up with some great new family photographs.

More information, details and some more ideas are posted at https://roblambphoto.com/?page_id=488

Now this guy may be a little young for this programme – but you never know, he might make it one day…

Spring Promo Extended

The sessions for the Spring Promo are now in full swing.  I’ve been having a lot of fun out and about around the County and there are some lovely pictures coming out of the sessions.

The only ‘problem’ so far being that with the great weather we’ve been having it looks a bit more like summer than spring!

A big thanks to those families who have already taken part – and I’m looking forward to the rest of the sessions this month.

The galleries from the first sessions are just going out to the families involved so once they’ve had a chance to have a good look at them I’ll post a few pictures up here.

In the meantime it looks like Spring is running late and I’m worried I might not get any bluebell pictures in April so I’m considering running a couple of weekday sessions in May.

So anyone still interested in a session who would be available on a weekday in May there is still a chance to take part in the promo.   Remember the session is free and you get a free framed 8×12 print in return for you time.  I will be using the pictures here on the blog, on the website and in future publicity material for the outdoor sessions.

So call or e-mail now rob@roblambphoto.com or 087 683 8511
